This is not an authentic Sony brand battery. It requires you to update your BIOS, and the computer still did not recognize the battery. Returned for refund.

I bought this battery as it was in my budget. My Sony VAIO VGN-NR285E laptop did recognized it but it couldn't charge it. It came with a DVD, which had some instructions in word doc. It had suggestion to my problem that I need to install driver and might need to upgrade my BIOS (as supplied in the dvd). It clearly mentioned that the risk involve, is my laptop might blow away. The way the document was written in alien's english language that it was hard for me to trust their software for any upgrade. I decided to return it back as it was not worth taking that huge risk. I am waiting for the refund.

I purchase this battery in july. I have a problem it that it is not holding a charge. I have e-mail this company twice and try to call. An they are doing nothing to address my problem. All I want is a good battery.

This battery is no good. Fits like a glove to my Sony Vaio but the laptop simply can't detect it.

Had some difficulty finding a BPS9 battery that could be shipped in short order for a decent price for some reason, and so went with this one off of Amazon.
When it arrived and I put it in the PC, I got a message that the battery wasn't recognized. I saw that the battery came with a CD to update the bios.... The CD instructions were written in Chinglish which was a little scary (especially since it says that if your bios gets destroyed they have "pity for you"), but the program worked and the battery was recognized.
Functions as promised and the price is good. Probably ships directly from China, but at least the batteries inside are new because of that. Thanks!
